Target group/beneficiaries

The centre has the basic objective of correcting the strong urban bias in R&D in Science and Engineering. It has focused on science and technology issues as well as developing technologies that foster rural development and minimize the existing rural-urban disparity. Technologies developed at  astra largely used local resources and skills and place a great deal of emphasis on minimizing ecological and environmental damage.
