The Gram Vikas policy of 100% consensus ensures that the village gets developed in its entirety. The villages where Gram Vikas has intervened show a remarkable improvement in the quality of life within 4 to 5 years. The success in one village creates a ripple effect and seeing the development in one village the neighboring villages get motivated too.
Health and sanitation has improved considerably with the threat of malaria and other diseases reducing considerably. The residential school at churns out students who top the state in the matriculation exams and sport and cultural activities. In most of the cases where the people have taken housing loans, the repayment is as per schedule, thanks to the alternative livelihood options provide by Gram Vikas.
Currently, Gram Vikas records an annual growth of 5000 new families every year. The intervention of Gram Vikas is seen as a sign of stability and reduced conflicts within the village.

The Most Innovative Development Project Award 2001 form the Global Development Network and the selection of Joe Mediath, Executive Director of Gram Vikas, as Outstanding Social Entrepreneur 2001 by the Schwab Foundation for Social Entrepreneurship In December 2001, at the Third Annual Conference of the Global Development Network (GDN) at Rio de Janeiro, Gram Vikas was given the Award for the Most Innovative Development Project for the Rural Health and Environment Programme.
