Habitat started its operations on a very small scale from Trivandrum. In the 16 years it has grown as an organisation and has been able to construct more than 20,000 buildings. Most of their work has been in Trivandrum and they have had clients from all strata of the society, from the fisher folk to the upper class families. They have dealt with all kinds of buildings, from small single-family houses to the academy building of the communist party in Kerala, the EMS academy.
They have also been able to spread out to the rest of India with 28 responding centers in 9 states all over the country. They believe in multilevel intervention, being action oriented and innovative, having a commitment to quality and providing cost effective and efficient shelter solutions.
