INHAF is a ‘synergy' platform, predominantly an organization of organizations , non-governmental in character. The definition of NGO adopted by INHAF, however, is broad. It includes NGOs, CBOs, activists, academics, researchers, students, concerned professionals, enlightened and responsible entrepreneurs, pro-active citizens, business and even beauracrats.

INHAF operate through partner organizations. Once is individuate an action over a relevant issue or topics, usually from the Regional consultations, with the assistance of the secretariat its build up an issue constituency of at least 10-15 people/agencies on each topic. Funds for each initiative are for a maximum of 75% from the INHAF secretariat and the remaining 25% has to be raised locally.

Training capacities
INHAF is currently organizing some workshops on cost effective technologies specifically target for students in architecture and civil engineer in partnership with the MIPAA platform. They are the beginning of a process of information and dissemination.

R&D / cataloguing / publications
One of the activities on the INHAF Agenda is the set up of a resource center with the objectives of an easy and comprehensive access of information and materials on various aspects of different NGO/CBO fields. Information for advocacy, lobbying, use in programme and plan improvements, etc. and support to use these and to assemble documents, action plans and programmes.

The INHAF resource centre should cover four main groups of activities:

•  Documentation centre

•  Database and internet

•  Research and publication

•  Capacity building training programmes and TA

• 

Their website is still not operating; it is going to be implemented by Mahiti.
