NFF

The National Fishworker's Forum is a trade Union.  The NFF at Trivandrum, as a part of its livelihood support activities, has been able to train and organize a team of masons, technicians and laborers, called the ‘Shrama Shakti' literally meaning the power of labour.   This team is employed by NFF to construct housing and other infrastructure for the fishermen.  Moreover, apart from the government schemes and benefits a lot of NFF housing initiatives are funded by contributions made by fisher folks themselves, for self-development and from the meager resources available to them.  The main agenda of NFF has always been to draw attention and change the attitude and policies pertaining to the fishing community.  Hence, they have been put in the category of ‘political processes'.
