Background

Architect Srinivas Murthy graduated in Architecture from the School of Planning and Architecture in New Delhi. He did his internship in the office of Architect Anil Laul at the Nizamuddin Building Centre.
While still in college, he and his batch mates were approached by the then Prime Minister of India, Mr. Rajiv Gandhi to design a museum in memory of his late mother, the ex-Prime Minister of India. While in college he participated in the activities of NASA, the National Association of Students of Architecture.

After graduation in 19 , he came back to his home-town in Visakhapatnam. He took up a few architectural and interior design commissions in Vizag. As he began to diversify, he set up the Delhi and Mumbai offices.

Since then, SMG Designs has taken up various government and private commissions, which include designing of various buildings such as residential, institutional, commercial buildings, as well as interior designing .

He is also involved in Heritage conservation issues and is the Convener of the Vizag chapter of INTACH, The India National Trust for Art and Cultural Heritage. He is also taking an active interest in the development of Vizag as a tourism destination.

He has a great interest in teaching and is presently a faculty member in the Department of Architecture at the Andhra University. He is especially interested in sensitizing students to the current issues pertaining to a sensitive architectural practice.
