L’expertise solidaire pour construire un habitat digne et durable pour tous

We can differentiate 3 types of workshop that we use for different purposes in the MPs. We have training workshops, technical workshops, and awareness workshops.

Training workshops are mainly oriented towards community capacity strengthening and usually gather approximately 15 people which are either part of the Village Reconstruction Committees (VRC) or that have volunteered for the activity. The training workshop is conducted by an agency that has experience in the activities that we are implementing and it is organized around hands-on trainings and exposure visits.
The workshops on nursery management (March 07) and bio manures and pesticides (April07) conducted respectively by Center for Environmental Education (CEE) and Center for Education and Agricultural Development (CEAD), within the frame of the greenery theme are good examples of these training workshops. The purpose was to enhance the capacities and give the tools to the community to conduct the nursery activities the most effectively.

Technical workshops aim at enhancing the capacity of our team to elaborate appropriate solutions for the demonstrations. They gather the social and technical teams of A&D and DA (approx. 10 members). These workshops are made to analyse the results of the social mobilisation and design technical solutions adapted to the context with the help of professionals from different organisations that have expertise in the theme covered.
The workshop conducted by Sattva (May 07) regarding Drainage, RWH and Roads illustrate this activity. Different solutions were examined within the workshop, a solution was decided, then validated by A&D and DA and the technical plans and estimates were completed with the support of the resource persons.

Awareness workshops have the aim to sensitize the populations of the villages to different issues. They can be oriented towards VRC members, a particular group of the village population, or to all the community. The goal of this activity is to raise the awareness of the target group regarding a specific subject. They are conducted by organisations that work on the theme covered and relay information and exposure to the community.
Workshops on basic hygiene and toilet use are examples of these workshops, where an organisation comes and sensitizes the community through an information module. This can be conducted in schools, or in a village festival set up with information stalls or through more conventional sessions with VRC members. We plan to conduct such workshops during the sanitation and solid waste management theme
